About LIGHT: Battlemage Academy
I made a custom Gameboy style spin-off of the LIGHT: Path of the Archmage game I wrote music for mostly just to see if I could. The art assets are from open source gaming sites, some of them I made, and the character art is from the original game developed by Sunshineshiny. All of the music is mine, it was reworked as chiptunes that play directly from the website with no built in sounds/samples needed. There is an option to add HD music but I have not made the HD files available yet.

What’s New?
09/04/2026 Update:
The player can now playback ROMs that use MP2K / Sappy engine as well as the Webfoot engine.
It isn’t perfect… but it’s pretty good.
In the 1.3 release, Rare titles like Donkey Kong Country and Banjo Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge can be played but they are still in the very early stages of decoding so drums don’t map correctly as well as other known issues. The MIDI should still export relatively well though from my testing.
*** Composition mode is coming soon! ***
Locked out for the beta release because it has its fair share of bugs.
Please contribute song, instrument, and SFX names to the catalogue if you want to be a part of the project!
Submissions for name contributions can be sent to BFStudioApp@gmail.com
BFStudio or Buu’s Fury Studio is an audio extraction project I did to get MIDI information from the Game Boy Advance game Dragon Ball Z: Buu’s Fury.
After Months of effort, in my spare time, I was able to crack the compression used for Webfoot’s Dragon Ball games. Interestingly, it turns out that the same custom audio engine was used for the following titles:
• Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy Of Goku
• Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy Of Goku II
• Dragon Ball Z: Buu’s Fury
• Dragon Ball GT: Transformations
Thanks to the Legacy Of Goku: Origins fan game community, I was able to add the first Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy Of Goku title to the compatibility list!
This little mini DAW (Digital Audio Workstation for the uninitiated) can open your dumped game rom for all of these games and play them back complete with a piano roll and an experimental editing mode where you can import your own custom MIDI files and edit them to play with the sounds that load from the game rom!
(Editing is limited in current release.)
